From Rip and Replace to Augmenting Investment:

In the past, as software evolved and complexities increased, organisations faced the challenge of managing a proliferation of new technologies. The traditional approach of rip and replace, replacing entire systems with new ones, became antiquated in the face of this complexity. IBM recognised this paradigm shift and transformed their approach to embrace augmenting investment. Rather than discarding existing systems, IBM focused on augmenting and enhancing them with new capabilities. They championed the transition from Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) to microservices and, more recently, to containerization. By embracing this approach, IBM has enabled businesses to leverage existing investments while integrating new technologies seamlessly.

The Factors Driving Change:

Several factors have driven IBM's shift in approach. One crucial factor is their understanding of changing buying habits. Gone are the days of huge multi-year investments that may hinder agility and adaptability. Today, businesses seek more flexible and dynamic investment options. IBM has recognised this need and adapted their strategies to cater to a wider range of customers. While IBM is known for their collaborations with multinational organisations, their ecosystem includes partners like Datamato, proud contributors to IBM's success story.

The shift from rip and replace to augmenting investment has had a profound impact on the way IBM approaches the marketplace. By embracing this new approach, IBM has empowered their ecosystem to build on the value of their solutions. From Datamato’s perspective one example is our Automatic Environment Provisioning offering, which further enhances Red Hat Ansible and IBM Deploy. This joint effort showcases the synergy between our expertise and IBM's cutting-edge technologies, this drives innovation for both parties involved and delivers increased value to our joint clients.

The Problem
The challenge faced by the KPIT team is the setup of an IBM DNG environment with a distributed topology. They require assistance in effectively gathering, managing, and linking their project requirements within this environment. Additionally, there is a need to configure a reverse proxy with IBM DNG applications and IBM DB2 database to ensure seamless and secure access. Furthermore, the team seeks to configure LDAP and SMTP functionalities to enable easy user access and real-time updates through email notifications. Addressing these issues is crucial to establish a robust and efficient IBM DNG environment that meets the team's needs for streamlined requirement management and effective collaboration.
